Enhancing Flexibility and Multiple Entry & Multiple Exit Options
The policy introduces flexible curricula and multiple entry-exit points in academic programs, allowing students to tailor their educational journey according to their interests, needs, and circumstances, improving student retention and access.
Increasing Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) and Accessibility
NEP targets a significant increase in higher education enrolment to 50 % by 2035. Implementing NEP reforms will widen access to quality education, help attract the students, bridging socio-economic and regional disparities in educational and employment opportunities.
Fostering Research, Innovation and Globalization
The policy calls for establishing a National Research Foundation and promoting international collaborations. There is a compulsory research internship component in UG.PG programs. These will strengthen research ecosystems, enhance quality, and position Indian institutions globally, boosting their reputation and student experience.
Autonomy, Accountability and Technological Integration
NEP promotes institutional autonomy with accountability mechanisms, allowing universities/institutes to innovate governance and curricula. It also encourages integrating technology for modern teaching-learning methods, improving quality and reach.
